Eva Klingbeil, a senior at Niwot High, won the girls 4A title by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:58.9 at the Colorado High School Activities Association state championship meet at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Klingbeil, who was 61st as a freshman in 2018 and 41st in 2019 before not competing at the state final last season, became the fourth female athlete to capture a state cross country crown for Niwot, joining Elise Cranny Layla Roebke and Samree Dishon. She led five Niwot scorers in the top nine and seven athletes placing in the top 16 to help the Cougars set the record for fewest points in classification history with 20.
