Niwot captured its fifth consecutive Class 4A girls team title by placing five scorers in the top six and all seven athletes among the first 14 finishers to produce a 20-122 victory against Battle Mountain at the Colorado High School Activities Association state cross country championship meet at Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Freshman Addison Ritzenhein covered the 5-kilometer course in 17:56.5 to take second, Mia Prok was third in 18:18.1, Bella Nelson finished fourth in 18:24.1, Madison Shults placed fifth in 18:29.3, Lex Bullen secured sixth in 18:35.8, ninth-grader Anna Prok earned eighth in 18:45.2 and Olivia Alessandrini grabbed 14th in 19:10.4 for Niwot, which matched the lowest score in program history at the state final from last year. The Cougars also improved their team time from 92:31 last season to 91:44 in extending its Class 4A record championship streak.
